Passing the CCM Certification ExamAre you having anxiety about taking the CCM exam? In my article 8 Tips for Passing the CCM Exam https://casemanagementstudyguide.com/blog/8-tips-for-passing-the-ccm-exam I told you how to best study for the exam. Now in this article I will give you last minute tips to help you to pass the CCM exam.

Obtaining your CCM certification is an important step in advancing your career as a Case Manager.

You have spent countless hours studying for the CCM exam, and you want it to show on your test score right?

These steps will help ensure you are at your peak performance!

Tip 1: Read over the instructions you received from the CCMC and testing center.

It may sound silly, but make sure you read over the instructions. They will provide you with valuable information you will need for exam day. You will need to bring specific forms of ID, make sure you have them and that they are in acceptable condition. Your photo ID must be in excellent condition. I know one case manager who was turned away because the corner of her drivers license was coming apart. The testing center stated it could have been tampered with.

Tip 2: Do not cram the night before.

It may have worked for you in college, but let’s face it, we are all a little older. And this is not an ordinary test. This is a test of your knowledge of case management principles and practice. So a review of the highlights of your study materials the week before should be sufficient if you have been studying for a while.

Tip 3: Prepare the day before

Check to make sure you know where you are going and where you will park. Will you need money for parking or meters? If so, have this ready. Pick out some comfortable clothes, preferably layers and lay them out the night before. One less decision you will have to make on test day!

Tip 4: Get a good nights sleep

If this is easy for you most nights, keep your normal routine. If on the other hand you have difficulty sleeping, begin a good sleep routine as far in advance as possible. This should include no electronic displays for at least an hour before bed (cellphones, computers and iPads) as well as a relaxing bedtime routine. This could include reading, yoga or meditation.

Tip 5: Eat a nutritious high protein meal

The test is 3 hours long. Make sure you eat a good meal beforehand. Avoid simple sugars that may give you that initial energy, but will cause a dip in your blood sugar a short time later, right when your are in the middle of your exam!

Tip 6: Give yourself plenty of time to get to the center and register

Leave early so you are not stressed out if you get behind a slow driver, hit every red light or have trouble finding a parking spot. If you arrive early take a walk to relieve stress. And make sure you use the restroom!

Tip 7: Relax

You have 3 hours to complete the exam. I am a slow test taker and I was able to take the test, review all the questions I flagged (I had a ton of them), and still have time left over. So relax, take a deep breath now and then, and stretch when you need to.
